Today was service day for an older ice machine that’s still in great working condition. We pulled it apart, gave everything a solid scrub, replaced the water filter, and ran a light cleaning cycle using just a third of the recommended cleaner to protect the aging plate. Full-strength solutions can strip the zinc plating and shorten the life of the machine, so a gentler approach keeps it going strong. The interior was in decent shape, but regular maintenance like this helps avoid bigger issues.
After rinsing and reassembling, we kicked it back into ice-making mode. Thanks to some smart planning, the client had emptied the machine and stored backup ice. It should be dropping fresh ice within 30 minutes. One final tip — always check the water valves during service. They’re a common point of failure and worth replacing regularly. Clean machines make clean ice, and routine servicing keeps your investment running smoothly.
