In today’s job, we were called out to a sandwich shop that had been dealing with refrigeration issues tied to a poorly located condenser. The unit had been fully installed underneath a bench in the kitchen — right next to the stove and dishwasher, with minimal ventilation. Not ideal.
This particular condenser supports two external fridges, but it had been boxed in with cabinetry that made it nearly impossible to breathe. Over time, this led to serious performance issues and dangerously high operating temperatures.
We had no choice but to carefully remove the unit for a proper service. That meant disconnecting all the pipes, removing the electrical connections, and lifting the whole setup onto the bench for better access.
Once it was out, we gave it a full clean — hose down, shampoo, rinse — the works. We made sure to get right into the heat exchanger, removing all the dust and buildup that had been strangling efficiency.
The result? A much happier condenser and an even happier client.
While this clean will help the system get through the winter, we did advise that come summer, the compressor may start showing signs of wear again — especially given the tough conditions it’s been under. That heat takes its toll.
