Late-Night Unit Change: Keeping Our Client Running Without Downtime

posted in: Blog 0

Not every job happens during business hours. Recently, we carried out a late-night unit replacement for one of our long-term customers—a commercial site inside a public hospital in Sydney.

This was no small task. The old unit was in rough shape:

  • The compressor valve had failed
  • The condenser was completely choked with dust and dirt
  • Airflow through the grills was almost non-existent

Frankly, it was surprising it had lasted as long as it did.

Working After Hours for Zero Disruption

Because this was a busy hospital, we scheduled the replacement after hours to ensure no interruption to operations. Safety and compliance were top priorities:

  • Carried out fire isolations to prevent risks during the swap
  • Coordinated with building management to ensure smooth access
  • Completed all paperwork and sign-offs to keep everyone in the loop

By the time staff arrived the next morning, the job was already done.

The Upgrade

The old system was replaced with a brand-new unit, upgraded to use R448A refrigerant—a more efficient and environmentally friendly choice that offers up to 15% improved performance compared to older refrigerants.

We installed new valves, cleaned everything thoroughly, and tested the system before leaving site.

Results That Matter

  • No downtime for the client’s business
  • Safer, more efficient unit with a 2-year parts warranty
  • Confidence that the system will perform reliably for years to come

At BM Refrigeration, we believe in doing things right the first time—whether it’s midnight in a hospital or midday in a busy restaurant.
